On Tuesday September 17th of Sassafras Audubon Society is offering the first in a series of monthly birding outings led by David Rupp of IndiGo Birding Nature Tours. These trips are free and open to the public and are for all levels from beginners to experienced birders. We will meet at 8:30 a.m. in the Lucky’s Market parking lot (2424 S. Walnut St.) to drive to Fairfax State Recreation Area for a morning of birding focused on migrating songbirds and shorebirds. Participants can meet the group at the Fairfax beach at 8:50 if that is more convenient. Binoculars will be available for those that need them. Please RSVP by emailing david@indigobirding.com so we can notify you if the trip is canceled or rescheduled due to weather. Participants not holding an annual pass will be responsible for their own single entry gate fee to Fairfax, if the gatehouse is open ($7 per Indiana vehicle).
